South County Tail Waggers is SO excited to present our 2nd Annual 5K WALKING Wagathon!!
Our 1st Annual event was a great success, and we are looking forward to doing it again this year for our wonderful community!
All proceeds will be going to SCTW’s ongoing efforts to create a free monthly Spay & Neuter Clinic for our South County residents in need that are unable to S/N their dogs.
In just seven years, one unspayed-female dog and her offspring can produce 97,000 puppies! We can’t rescue and adopt our way out of this crisis. We must get in front of it!
We need your help to fulfill this goal. You can make an impact. You can contribute to the solution by participating in what will be a wonderful, family-fun event!!! Participants will enjoy a complimentary Wagathon t-shirt, music by DJ Mistik, vendors, giveaways, face-painting for kids, snacks, water, a complimentary SCTW Wagathon bag, and MORE!
The 5K Walk will start at Christmas Hill on the Ranch Side, will head down the levy, past Solarsano Middle School, and will turn back around on the levy to head back to the starting point.
What time does the Wagathon begin? Registration? Actual walking start time?
Registration will begin at 7:00 am sharp, and the actual walk start time will be 8:00 am.
Can I bring my dog?
OF COURSE. We are asking that each participant walk only one dog each.
Are leashes required?
YES. We are also requiring that ONLY lead leashes are to be used — absolutely no retractable leashes. This is for the safety of all of the participants and their dogs.
Can we run the 5K with our dog if we would like to?
The Wagathon is a walking-only event. With the number of participants and their dogs, and many being novices to this type of event, we are asking that everyone walks while keeping a safe distance between other participants and their dogs. This will help to provide a calm and low-key environment for all of the dog participants.
What can I bring to the event?
A small backpack or fanny pack that can be worn on your body, or left in your car. There will not be any storage available onsite. While water and trail mix will be provided to you, we ask that everyone please bring extra water, sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat. Also please dress in layers — it will be chilly in the morning, but we anticipate it to start getting warmer as the sun is coming up.
How many miles is a 5K? How long does it take the average person to complete?
A 5K is 3.1 miles. The average person walks a mile in approximately 15-20 minutes, barring any health or medical issues.

When is the deadline to purchase tickets?
The deadline to purchase tickets is July 2nd to get a t-shirt in your size. After that date, it is while supplies last.
Do I get a complimentary race t-shirt with my ticket purchase?
Absolutely! We will ask for your t-shirt size in your ticket purchase/registration form.
What’s the refund policy?
Unfortunately, we are not able to issue refunds at this time. We will, however, mail you your event t-shirt(s) should you not be able to attend the event.
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
No. We will have a will call list at the registration tables.
